Expert Editing Services

Hi, I'm Jenny O'Callaghan, founder of Editorial Atelier, and editor of all things non-fiction.

My professional trajectory has been honed through years of medical writing and editing, which was a defining part of my job for a long time. I realised I loved the copyediting aspect of my work, and Editorial Atelier was born! Armed with a master's degree, a love for language, and a wealth of experience in writing and copyediting for clinical academics, I bring a seasoned perspective to every project I undertake.

I'm a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), and provide copyediting, proofreading, and audio transcription services in any subject matter, but my expertise is founded in medicine, science and health.

When I'm not waving my editorial wand, you'll often find me running through Northamptonshire, sometimes accompanied by my young Labrador who always seems to outpace me. In quieter moments, I enjoy landscape painting, reading a good novel, and walking in the woods.

I understand the confidential nature of pre-publication work, and will never share your content with anyone but you. I am happy to sign NDAs as necessary.

From tendering bids, to technical documents, training materials to external reports and marketing, I provide comprehensive editing services tailored to your brand.

Using your in-house style (if you have one), I will collaborate with you to help you confidently present your content.

I provide expert freelance copyediting services to publishers of academic texts and journals, specialising in medical and scientific titles.

I improve consistency and clarity, reviewing cross references and citations, while aligning papers and articles with journal-specific conventions .

Academics

Improve the tone, reading ease, and consistency of your book chapters, journal articles and research papers with my copyediting services.

Please note- I don't offer copyediting for students submitting work for assessment, including master's dissertations and doctoral theses. For a final polish of your work, please ask for my proofreading services instead.

Clinical Researchers

With extensive experience in clinical research, I offer editing services for everything from protocols and regulatory submissions, to investigator brochures and patient facing materials.

I also provide audio transcription services for focus groups and research interviews.

I offer freelance services to both CROs and individual non-profit researchers.
