Explore my range of services tailored to meet your needs, including copyediting, proofreading, and audio transcription.
I welcome non-fiction content from a variety of fields. Take a look at what I offer below, and get in touch for a tailored quote.
Copyediting, also known as line editing, ensures your text is clear, consistent, and ready for publication. It is detailed work, going through every sentence of your text, to ensure the structure, grammar style, tone, and flow are consistent and relevant to your target audience.
I help writers by correcting or querying anything that seems to be an error, including text that doesn't make sense, misused words, repetitions and omissions, and missing or incomplete references.
I can suggest ways to reduce the length of your text, and provide guidance on your document's formatting, as well as structures or features, including headings, tables and charts, boxed text, and displayed quotes.
I know that you've spent a great deal of time and effort getting your draft together (believe me, I've been there). All queries and amendments are made with the sole purpose of constructively improving your text.
I don't offer substantial rewriting. I work with the text that is already there to make it as good as possible.
Traditionally the stage that comes after copyediting, proofreading is the final quality check of text before it is submitted or published. It involves removing any remaining errors and correcting superficial inconsistencies.
It does not involve fact checking, making large structural changes, or rewording sentences. If you need this, you should consider my copyediting service instead.
It does involve a detailed check for spelling, punctuation, grammar, and consistency in style (headings, dates, italics etc).
It can be done on your final PDF using comments and a list of corrections, or it can be completed using Track Changes in Word.
For students submitting work for assessment, I only offer proofreading services. I am not able to alter the structure, perform reference or fact checks, or change the content or word count of your work.
Audio transcription is the process of converting audio recordings of spoken words into clear written text.
Unlike audio typing, which involves real time transcription of speech to text as someone is speaking, audio transcription involves listening to a recording, and transcribing it into written form.
I offer a diverse range of audio transcription services, including (but not limited to) medical research, group discussions, workshops and interviews.
I will present the text in your desired format, using your in-house conventions, including time stamps if necessary. I can include everything, such as hesitations and stutters, or provide a sensible verbatim transcript.
I have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and up to date Good Clinical Practice (GCP), so you can rest in the knowledge that I will keep your sensitive information secure.
I work to ensure accuracy and consistency, even for complex recordings with technical language, multiple speakers or strong accents.
